Cycas Revoluta

I bought this in 2012, it had a flush of new leaves in 2013 and I planted it out in the garden in 2014

Unfortunately the winter finished off the fronds and it sat without any fronds all summer of 2015

2016 - Still no sign of new fronds, so I decided to try something I'd read about. Apparently where they are from they have a monsoon season and being drenched encourages them to grow. I put the plant in a bucket of water for several days

A week later, a new flush had started, so this technique works!

The flush was only 3 small leaves, but this is expected due to it not having any means of photosynthesizing for over a year

This should over winter OK in the greenhouse
